“How can I be an Intelligence Officer?” a friend was asking me the other day. “I mean an Intelligence Officer like Jason Bourne, minus his amnesia lah, of course”, he further added.
For a moment, that question caught me off guard for as far as I can remember we have never been approached by any client to hunt for such a position. We also do not have such postings in Allyhunt yet. Perhaps after reading this, some organizations may be keen to put up a posting and my friend can apply for it straight away.
I “googled” “Intelligence Officer” and “CIA Agent” and found out some interesting facts. Besides the common understanding that an agent has to be physically fit and mentally alert, check out the following criteria:-
If you have the preconceived idea that the job may be a glamorous one as the James Bond films suggest, you have just missed the essence of a “spying” job. James Bond or Jason Bourne are heroes that Hollywood has made up and we naively and willingly allow secret agents to deceive us that they are superheroes and they can never die. Waking up to reality, the real deal is not only a serious business but a very risky and dangerous one too. One’s life is at stake all the time.
As a Security Intelligence Officer aptly puts it, “If you want a job that involves glamorous locations, jet-skis, cocktails and the rest, you’d be better off working as an actor in the next Bond film.”
So, I asked my friend, “Is acting a career that you are perhaps considering instead?”
